    Ramblas Golf Club

You have been considering playing some golf on your vation, you check out the local golf courses and notice that Las Ramblas Golf Course looks nice and is quite short, “this will be an easy round” you think, how wrong could you be! Yes it is quite short by the new more modern standards les than 6000 metres from the whites) but I very much doubt that you will play a trickier or tighter golf course in your entire life.

Las Ramblas follows a the course of a couple of gorges or "Ramblas" through the wooded hills and although there is no long grass in the rough, there does not really need to be if your golfball is hidden behind one of the many ancient pine and olive trees or far worse, vanished sixty feet down a ravine.

There are a several blind drives as well, so my best advice is to play only where you can clearly see, in other words, leave the big guns in the bag on these holes, remembering that it is very short and you simply do not need to wallop every single shot. A good, more accurate shot with maybe a five wood or even sometimes a five iron will help you to post a good score, if you do not, then take plenty of golf balls.

At weekends and peak times it can be quite slow, but remember, you are on vacation, so take plenty of refreshments with you, sit down in the warm sunshine and enjoy yourself. I always, without exception, take my little camera with me to las Ramblas, as the “boys” at home might not believe your tales otherwise.

Some of the tees (under the trees) leave a bit to be desired and may be a bit patchy in places, but most are very acceptable and a few are very spectacular from course high points or crossing ravines and shear cliffs. If you do watch your golf ball disappear into an chasm, they are mostly designated as lateral water hazards, so accept your punishment and drop another golf ball where it crossed over the markers. Now, having said that, I have seen tourists literally risk their very life, climbing down a cliff face searching for a tatty old “titleist” and then return back up with a bag full of shiney new ones.

Depending on the time of year, it will take you between 20 and 40 minutes to drive to Las Ramblas Golf Course from Torrevieja and a similar time from Murcia Airport.

To sum it all up, try to relax, take plenty of time, play well within yourself, so ensuring that you have an enjoyable game.
